man, that 8500 is gonna kill your framerate. i'd say no more than 40 fps in the stress test, maybe 20-30 in game?

I use to get 90 - 100 on 7600 gt on single core

Isn't 7600 > 8500 though?

I can't remember how CPU intensive CSS is, or source in general for that matter, but unless he's got a high clockspeed, I can't see him getting near that high.

For gaming? Yes.
For an HTPC or workstation? No.

It's all in perspective. It will also depend on the resolution you are running. 1024x768 and you'll be fine, 1280x1024 might be pushing it.

It should run CS:S fine, probably somewhere around 60+ FPS on high settings. CS:S is not very GPU intensive.
