what kind of fps should i get on css with my rig - Page 2

Get an 8800GT. You'll get probably 200+ FPS.

You want 100 FPS in CS because the hitboxes don't register well at 60. If you ever try playing CS with v-sync on it's very unforgiving.

He said he doesn't game much.

An HTPC is a home theater box. Encoding Videos is mostly done by the CPU, decoding is where your GPU comes into play. 60fps is usually the target range for games, so if you can get that you are golden.

Decoding is when you play the content. a .wmv or .avi is an encoded file, and when you play it through your media player, your graphics card decodes the video portion, and cpu (or soundcard, depending) decodes the audio stream.

Nah, grab a 2600XT, it is faster then the 8600GT and usually can be found for less money.
