Interesting. I didn't realize that distilled water was non-conductive. Anyways, how do you think my build from the first post would fair cooling a quad?

I would suggest the medium speed fans with a fan controller. You can undervolt but if you need more fan and only have the slow speed ones . . .

What would happen if you were to use automotive coolant? Would it be any better than just distilled water?

I myself and going to liquid cooling. My good friend OptionB (who is a expert at it - and has dumped a TON of money into it himself..) and I are going to be doing mine in the next few days.

My setup will be:
1x http://www.frozencpu.com/products/23...GRc&mv_pc=1060

2x http://www.frozencpu.com/products/70...GRc&mv_pc=1803 (Fesser is the way to go I'm told)

2x http://www.frozencpu.com/products/75...GRc&mv_pc=1313 (ditching the 2 stocks - might put 2 more on if needed...

1x http://www.frozencpu.com/products/62...GRc&mv_pc=2399 (will have the 2 120's on the rad hooked on this and the UV lighting on it as well.)

Actually Pentosin is VW automotive coolant, so you could just pick it up at teh local VW dealership. Just use a 10 or 11 to one ration. Distilled water with a small amount of coolant to bring the PH closer to 7 is the better way, IMO.

I like the kit it is solid.

As far as the Fesser nonconductive, IMO it is junk. It's only nonconductive as long as it's pure. As soon as you drop it in your system it's no longer pure and has lead and cooper mixed. As soon as it hits your board, assuming a leak, it gathers dust etc. and becomes conductive. You can purchase it but IMO it does you no good, other than to lighten your wallet.

For fans I would suggest the Scythe Ultra Kraze 120 byt 38 mm mediums. They have greater pressure and push or pull air better across the radiator. Other's here like the panas too.

Here's a nice review of nonconductive coolants. http://blog.petrastech.com/index.php?itemid=7

Yeah I'd get 2 pana's but they don't fit in the budget. I'm actually getting those two fans for free - and I think will definatly perform better than the scyths or the oem ones.. Though I was tempted to mount 4 of those scyths... Not too sure yet though.

As for the coolant I dig the UV and the black. I know a few folks who have used it with good results - not saying it's the best but it's what I've already bought.

Ohhh free! Yes! My favorite word. Remember "If it's free. It's for me."

As far as the coolant, junk is probably to strong. I just thought it wouldn't be nonconductive and at the price charged it was a bit much.

Hmmm. May have to test the Panas versus my Scythes. As far as the 120 by 25 mm performing better than the 120 by 38 Scythes, I may have to test that as well.

Well I saw those Panas in person and all I could say is WOW. They are HEAVY and spin and sound like a jet engine ready for take off when maxed. I dare say it would probably take a finger off quite litteraly.

YHPM btw.

Okay, instead of the low speed yate loons, i would probably use some 68cfm scythe slipstreams I already have. Now what I'm wondering is, would the Swiftech MCR220 be better with those fans or the Black Ice GT Stealth 240?

Those panny's are rediculous, I'm assuming sound isn't a concern then? as I had 3 in my case and Jet Engine is fairly close for a description but holy smokes do they move a lot of air. Fan controller of course will help this.
Oh and yes I can attest to them almost taking a finger off...I had 4 stitch's in my thumb being stupid one night accidentally catching a fin at full speed, cut right into my thumb and through my nail, thought it was a small horror movie with blood splattered all inside the bottom of my case lol.
