taper threads need tape...parallel threads do not (that is why they come with the o-ring)
the tape keeps fluid from making its way up the threads. alsthough taper threads tighten against each other, there is often room for liquid to pass, hence the need for tape. the o-ring on a parallel thread fitting keeps any liquid from passing
and yes, you can use too much tape. one wrap is sufficient and remember to wrap it towards the direction of the threads so the end doesnt peel up when you thread it in
They are bspp threads I think. I have the danger den high flow for all the swiftech products and bitspower fittings for my pa120.3
