>.< why does my 9600gt dieee

Thread Starter
got a new 9600gt sonic, put it in, and whenever i try to load anything 3d, the computer will freeze and stutter, and take about 20 minutes to load the login screen of battlefield 2. the same card work fine on my brothers computer, and loads windows okay, but every game chucks a spaz no matter what on mine.

i've tried reinstalling drivers and using driver cleaner professional, using older drivers, and i'm getting to the point where i'm considering a format... so any heelp at all would be greatly appreciated.

haven't overclocked this card at all, tried underclocking but that didn't help either. its a palit 9600gt sonic 700/2000, running windows xp pro sp2 core 2 duo e6750 and 2gb of ddr667. never had any problem like this with my old 8600gt.

all the text turns into blurred squares and font appears as a background, the screen will flicker as it loads some more... card idles at 35C and thats about all the info i can think of... its getting a bit frustrating and i'd love to get ut working, so any suggestions would be great. thanks

Well if it does it on your machine and your brother's machine, sounds like it's time for an RMA.

This is common when the card goes into 3d mode it will draw more power. Is your PSU capable of supplying enough power ?. Have you connected the 6 pin SLI connector if it needs one ?
Thread Starter
PSU should be capable, haven't had any problems with it before, and the 6 pin is plugged in yes

EDIT: i have a lot of fans and leds connected to the psu though, but the 6 pin is connected directly to the psu, i made sure of that... it can't even render the 3d nvidia logo in the quality/performance settings tab...

and i've heard it before... but what does RMA mean again?

Have you tried fully removing the drivers and cleaning them way with DriverCleaner and then installing the latest versions ? It could be a corrupted driver.

thanks for filling out your system specs, as Enterprise mentioned before, your PSU might not be up to the task, how many amps does it have on the +12V?

I just tried googling k-mex 450 and I didn't find any specs but several hits about not having enough power for graphics cards.
