it should be on the box and usually on the side of the PSU itself it will have a chart showing the power available.

ah okay, almost missed your edit there, the funny thing is, my brother is running almost identical hardare to me on exactly the same psu, and he's had no problems

Well....thats a fairly low amperage. Im not sure what the specific requirements are on that card but you may wish to check that out.

but thats for the 12v, i thought that was the one you plugged into the board not the 5v cords, not sure, happy to be enlightened though i have a 550 in another rig, but that other rig isn't here right now, when i get it again i might swap it out, for mow i'll jsut get rid of all the extra stuff i'm running off it.

that it works on your brothers almost identical system is kinda strange, I would immediately suspect the PSU as being the problem.
