I've got 2 XFX 9600GT, non oc versions. On 2 identical AMD systems: AMD X2 5400+, 2 gig gskill ram, Rosewill 550W Sli ready, MSI K9A2 CF-F v.1

Both cards randomly reboot their systems, sometimes system just hangs with a black screen(most likely video signal loss), while playing WoW. Initially I thought it was my OC, so I've downclocked the processors to stock, but the problem still happen. Then I thought it was the video OC, I've then reflash Video BIOS back to stock settings. Still happens, but less frequent. I've done the OS reformat twice on one system and it comes back right away as soon as I start to use WoW.

I've isolated it to the video cards. I've transferred one 9600GT to a different system, an Intel system, and now that system started getting hangups with a black screen, then I'd have to reboot it. The AMD system is now using a 7950GX2 and has never rebooted or get black screen hung at all. I know video temps is not the problem. I've loaded EVGA Precision so I can watch GPU temps while using WoW. Temps never get over 80, on stock cooling and stock fan speed.

The only common denominator is that all 3 systems have Rosewill PS and are/were using XFX9600GT, when the reboots and hangups happen. The 2 AMD system have 550W Sli ready, the Intel system has 600W Sli ready. I've ordered a different PS to replace the 600W Rosewill to see if it makes any difference at all.

These are the PS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817182089

I would recommend to format your HDD. Or you can either create a small partition and install XP on that and test again.
This also might be rather stupid to say but be sure all your drivers are updated. Especially chipset and videocard drivers. Also be sure to check if there are no weird programs running on the background. Your temperature idle looks fine btw.

Also, if I did understand properly, the card runs on your brother's pc fine?
If not, and everything I just suggested did not help, I would either blame the GPU or the PSU.
thats very dangerous if true....

well no sense making a new topic...

got my new psu, everything works fine except... the god damn graphics card >.<

what the hell else could be wrong? so its not the gc, not the psu which is now a corsair hx-520... computer boots every time, no problems with the mobo at all, hard drives are all fine and near new *sigh*

i tried upping the voltage in bios, but it doesn't look like i can... i'll look again in a bit, and more ideas guys?

okay, you'll have to tell me what rma means... i have just upgraded to a 9600gt from an 8600gt, and have been using the 8600 for gaming while my new card awaits a fix.

the new graphics card is perfectly fine, it works in my brothers pc, as i have said before, and the only real difference between my rig and his is the motherboard, his is an msi neo3 mine is an msi neo5, the neo5 is the new version of the neo3, so they're very similar.

since the card itself if fine i can't exchange it.

RMA - return merchandise authorization, basically an approval for you to return the merchandise back to the seller in exchange for a new part based on the fact that it was somehow defective.

I did a search on your motherboard and found a bios update:

http://drivers.softpedia.com/progDow...oad-34910.html

I would make sure you have the latest bios, and latest drivers for the motherboard. What drivers are you using for the 9600GT?

yeah i tried that before, put on only the forceware and... it didn't work, straight after fresh format, so it would appear that its not a software issue

If it were me and I was sure I had tried everything, latest updates on everything etc. and it didn't work, I would rma it or exchange it. That it works in your brothers system is weird but they don't have to know that.
