Opinions about memory

My Corsair memory (see sig) is starting to fail. I'm getting memory errors as of the last couple of weeks and am considering replacing them with G.SKILL PI. Any issues or incompatibilites with my MB, etc? Is there better memory I should consider?

Thanks for advice

what kind of errors? BSOD?, how you know are the memos failing?
did you check you memories first with Memtest86? if not, do it, and be sure are the memos

Are you running Memtest?

And yes, the G.Skill RAM you linked to is a nice set.

Thanks for asking about Memtest. The answer is "yes" but not when I started getting this latest problem. I should have but was just making an assumption (foolish I know). Maybe I'm just looking for an excuse to get better memory. Let me explain.

I have never been able to get better than 347MHz 5-5-5-12-2T out of this memory. That has locked me at 3.1GHz which is fine with me as that's about 30%. I have always wondered though why I can't go to 400MHz since that is the rated speed for this memory. I haven't been able to run it even at 347 without bumping the voltage up to 2.2. Even if I try to go to 350, Memtest86 will fail almost immediately.

Well, about three weeks ago, I started getting crashes with MS FSX. I figured it was game corruption so I did all the reinstalls, etc. and it continued to fail no matter what I did. I just assumed it was because I appear to be so close to the edge on this memory. I should have tested my memory but just didn't. Earlier this evening, I ran memtest for about three hours and nothing turned up. I'm going to cook it for 8-9 hours tonight and see what happens.

So, maybe I don't really have a memory problem after all; except that I can't seem to break the 347 barrier.

Am I thinking correctly about this? Advice most welcome.

Thanks again for the replies.

Well can be coz you have 4 x 1gb, insted 2 x 2gb, that makes your NB work alot more and is not used to work very stable, w/e you do if you get "better memory" get 2 x 2gb kit...GL
