Now that the GTA hype has settle, what are your views on it? - Page 2

I played it for 4-5 weeks straight and either got really bored or burned out...

- The multiplayer is a nice bonus and can definitely be fun but it gets old since it's not competitive.
- The single player didn't have many cheats like 'riot' and other crazy ****

It's worth the money though...

hmmm I rarely play it anymore, Who the hell cares all i do is Drive and hit cops and run over People lol, and then use cheats

i say a 7.5 is all it gets, no inside car views, No modding cars, no jetpack, no Jet planes, no more buying houses...

I say they should have modded Sanadreas and gave it better GFX and it would of blown away games in 2008

why when i Have a perfectly realistic CAMARO thats much faster and i can actually have fun with lol and never get bored, Least till the gas prices seduce me

Honestly?

I haven't even touched the game for 2 weeks. I think I'm about 40% through the story. I just can't stand the endless "this person crossed me, go kill them" usually involving some kind of chase where a car magically appears for them that just happens to ignore the same physics that I'm subjected to, which in turn involves them "getting away" and me either "restarting the mission" or "turning the console off and throwing the controller at the couch".

It wouldn't even be that bad if it wasn't for the fact that even though the gameworld is significantly more dense, the amount of it that you can uniquely interact with is less than even GTA3. I remember literally spending hours figuring out how to get to the next island with it's new cars and weapons before I unlocked it in the mission. Now they let you just swim to the next island, but as soon as you get more than halfway its instant 6 stars and police boats literally spawn out of nothing to kill you.

Looking back on it, I would say that San Andreas was a much better game than this.

I agree with this section of your post. Some of the missions are soo damn repetitive. I still feel this is the best GTA yet, though. Maybe not for its era..

Maybe its just different tastes, I got into a heated argument with a girl at work today because I like orange juice and she likes apple juice: we both love juice but just for different reasons.

I loved San Andreas because it was so open, it was like Rockstar reached down from the heavens and said "Here, take this massive plot of land and enjoy!" At any point I could go off into the desert and just mess around with whatever I had handy. In GTA4 it seems I can barely drive a car 2 blocks without running into something. Which brings me to another point, I remember one of those car chase missions that I ended up repeating probably 10-15 times. After a while I noticed that the cars literally swerved into you during the chase. This may have passed in the PS1/N64 days but for a game that is supposed to be more realistic its just ridiculous. If it wasn't for the taxi system I think I probably would have already sold the game second hand on Craigslist.

I think it is a awesome game. The problem is people who don't like games in the series like, someone who never liked any gta game gets gta4 thinking they will like it because it scored a 10. If you don't like the series you wont like it. A rating is just an opinion. Just because a game is rated 10 doesn't mean its good, it means the reviewer liked it.

I absolutely love this game. I would buy it several times over. I will probably buy it for PC as well.

I think it's a great game, but not a 10. I'd say around an 7-8. I played it to about 20% through and got bored with the missions. Maybe that's just me though. Also as someone said earlier, it's hard to drive for 10 feet without crashing into something. In my opinion, if they just re-did San Andreas with the new graphics, it'd be 5 times better.

I think the game was a big let down. It was fun at first but the game is just so repetitive, endless missions on following someone in a car etc etc. It really shouldn't have gotten 10/10 from IGN.

didnt it get 10/10 from pretty much everyone?

im dying to play it since a ton of people cant stop raving about it. i just finished Scarface for the Wii and its a GREAT game. if GTA4 is better then im already hooked
