VID i am confused

Hi guys,

We have been playing around with a E8200 and five Mobos.
We get different Vid for each Mobo and different bios, why would that be.

E8200
ASROCK 4COREDUAL 1.28v
Gigabyte EP35-DS3P 1.20v
Asus
Maxumis formula 1.25v
Striker 2 formula Bios 601 1.20v 1101 1.30v 1202 1.32v 1303 1.25v 1305 1.30v
Striker 2 extreme Bios 402 1.27v 701 1.20v 704 1.275v.

So in this conclusion what is my Vid.

Thanks

is all the power saving and thermal features turned off? because i had something like that happen to me, the cause was speedstep down clocking and lowering vcore and vid

Are you saying Core Temp is reporting a different VID for each board?
Or are you saying each board defaults a different voltage? That would make sense.

Yep Speed step, C1E, CPUID maxval, Execute Disable bit and thermal control are all disabled.

@ x2s3w4

Yep i am saying that each board defaults has a different voltage for the Vcore, if that makes sense why do people say my CPU has a good Vid or a bad Vid, looking at that its the mobo thats giving me a good or bad Vid or am i missing something here.

Thanks for your help guys

use coretemp.

i just found that the bloodiron's latest bios really messed up my vcore and read different VID's everytime i booted. which sucks, because i bought new ram suspecting that was causing my BSOD's. then i bought a motherboard thinking my motherboard was retarded. then i bought new psu thinking i had a bad 12v rail.

Every board is a little different just like every CPU is different. I bet if you had 2 of the same board you'd get different default voltage. I don't know exactly how Intel determines VID but you can usually run at less volts than the default voltage. The VID isn't necessarily the lowest stable voltage.

try using coretemp to get your vid. just because it's a vid doesn't mean the board defaults to it (my vid is 1.3125v and the board defaults to 1.29 and lower)
