Oh god Pauldovi, just because i said intel and dead in the same sentence doesn't mean you need to go to defcon 1.

I know you hold stock in intel, I know you <3 them with all your heart, but it was just a simple analogy, ill go change it to nvidia if it makes you happy.

But either way it stands, AMD/ATI is building up steam, and I can see them dominating the market in <2 years

I don't own stock in Intel and I don't know what that has to do with you saying something that really doesn't make any sense.

whether or not you like sucking AMD's dick, Intel is not in any position of dying. I believe right now they have gained back most of the market share they lost when AMD pwned them back in the A64 days....so even if AMD/ATI reclaims that percentage back, Intel has the majority and will for a long, long time. They will always be making tons of money off everything from OEM boards, chipsets on those boards, onboard gfx's on most computers, and of course their CPU's.
Jesus christ intel fanboys, relax. I never said Intel was dying.

I said if they hit some sort of rock they COULD be hurt severely, whereas AMD has a strong enough business in enough departments where even if by some radical (and unlikely) change, x86 processors become obselete, and GPUs take over a computers basic computational functions. AMD will still be going strong.

It makes perfect sense. You just don't want to get it.

It makes perfect sense.
You just don't want to get it.
I am a performance fanboy. Not Intel (used to like AMD from Socket A until Conroe, and Intel until socket A, and currently)
It makes perfect sense that x86 processors become obsolete?
Intel is in just as many departments as AMD, only difference it is not in high end graphics (ATI). Onboard graphics anyone? remember most computers use those!ORLY? YARLY!
Intel dominates onboard graphics market. So that compensates.

Either way you aren't making sense, not us.

You need to stop man, you sound really stupid, and taking my words out of context to try to make it like I'm not making sense makes you look even worse.

Read what I wrote again, in fact, I'll post it again for you because apparently 1 read through for you isn't enough.

Really, what part of Unlikely do you not understand?

And Intel's integrated graphics suck balls, so, if my hypothetical and UNLIKELY situation came true, intel wouldn't be able to keep up because their GPUs aren't nearly as powerful as ATI's.

So, with their CPUs and GPUs obselete, what other markets are they in? motherboards? who would buy their motherboards if their other products weren't up to par?

So please, don't bother posting again, everything I've said has been highly hypothetical.

Yeah... it makes a ton of sense.

AMD has not made a single dollar in profit in several quarters now. That sounds like strong business to me!

I don't think that it is a very good argument when you have to qualify it with an unlikely and radical event.

Intel makes everything from desktop, mobile, server, I/O, graphics, and embedded processors to various types of memory, chipsets, industry standards (ATX, USB, ect), communication devices, storage controllers, and various other computer products. Their business line seems to be a little larger.

Intel will always own a huge chunk of the market because they actually have a marketing team.

This is good news. I'm almost due for a new video card. That's a killer price if it comes out for $199.
