Having problems OCing

Thread Starter
on my sig rig, Ive never been able to over clock it with out,
The motherboard power cycling untill my options are reset *OC failed* ive tried many different options and have yet to succesfuly OC my cpu.

Now im thinking as my motherboard is a 8pin cpu power, but it had a cap covering 4 pins, and the mother board said only needs to use 8 pin if CPU is a extreme edition,

So me using only the 4 pin could this be my problem?

I've only got 4 pins, I haven't heard of 8 to be honest?

What says "OC Failed"? Is it displayed on the screen after the memory test the BIOS does when you first turn on?

id use all 8 pins if i were you, the only difference between an extreme addition and a regular chip is its higher clock and unlocked multiplier, so yea if they want you to use 8 pin for extreme editions id also use 8 pins if im overclocking

Yea man, LOL, he is trying, he isn`t troubled getting past 3.5Ghz, I`ve seen many guys OC q6600 on ds3l mobo with 4pin adapter...
And he said he failed to OC every single time, he can`t get 100mhz of it...
I said extreme for extreme OC, not Extreme Edition CPU...
just wondering why so much PSU don`t have 8pin adapter...
