Asus P5Q - Page 4

I have this board, actually P5Q Pro and here is my thoughts:

1. I never overclocked it so can't say about its potential features
2. There's a delay in BIOS screen when it detects your SATA drives in AHCI configuration. Flush it with moded bios
3. Loves to find USB hub (if you have any) and 0.5 sec bios delay. No delay if you have no USB hub
4. In CrossFire configuration, PCI-E configuration is 8x/8x. I am not sure about the impact as I am not using CrossFire setup for now.

I have the P5Q-E and its a fine MB. It took my quad to 3.8Ghz. P45 will bottleneck CF setups over 4850 performance.

I just got a P5Q-E a little over a week ago. I have my Q6700 stable at 3.8Ghz if that tells you anything.

I don't know if I'd say that's a bad thing. You pay for what you get, it's not like ASUS just slapped their name on it and said pay more. You're paying for the extra features which are well worth it.

I'm going to go ahead and say what most are probably thinking when they see this comment. Don't listen to this person's drivel. ASUS is a leader in the motherboard market for a reason. They produce few "trash boards" and it's always been this way. And in regards to the P5Q series, they are some of the best boards out there right now. Gives absolutely outstanding performance, BIOS options and features for a good price.

Definetly go with P5Q-e modell as it has 2mb BIOS insted if 1mb of PRP & PRO TURBO and its packed with advanced bios options like CPU GTL adjustable for each par of cores so you can stabilize exactly the core that errors in Prime95 Large FFT test and don't have to compesate with high FSB voltage .. Better memory support..Overall much better board than Pro for OVERCLOCKING QUADS but not much expecive..For C2D PRO modell is OK.. With some proper cooling on CPU you are set ..
Good Luck..
