what im not sure of tho, is what your problem is litlratt. you obviously know nothing about home audio. your just trying to prove all my statements as incorrect or make them seem demeaning in some form. nothing i have said has been demeaning or incorrect. now go read up on some home audio before you try and advise anybody of anything.
Dude quit being a jackass, litlratt wasn't fighting with you.

What led you to believe that I have a problem?

The only statement you made that I attempted to correct was "is the only way to get an HD audio source". At that, I didn't point you out specifically. That wasn't necessary until after you decided that you had summed up the entire article in your contradictory and incorrect previous posts.

We all can continue to learn.

I also apologize to the OP. These additional posts should not have been necessary.

Thread Starter
wow a lot happened to this thread over a few days while my rig was sick . I installed a new chipset driver that my computer doesn't agree with. Ended up making my computer not boot and I had to reinstall windows . Everything is good now. Sadly no our reciever doesn't have HDMI in, i've never heard of that, but I am no home theater guru. The optical audio will do though . I think i'm going to order them off of newegg though, because I think I might want to get some more stuff from the egg . Thanks for the help guys.

Also would that be a good HDMI cable?

BTW we got the last 40gig PS3 at sams .
BTW Check http://www.monoprice.com for all your cabling needs. They have great prices especially if you purchase more than 1 and cheap shipping. All of their cables come with a lifetime warranty so if it ever messes up, they'll send you a brand new one for free.

I will always recommend them as I buy from them consistently. I've purchased 50 SATA cables, 10 HDMI cables, and a bunch of other USB cables from them.

For instance, the HDMI cable you pointed out at NewEgg for $13.00 is not good as you can see by it's maximum transfer rate of up to 5 Gbps. That means it's off the following:

Quote:
HDMI 1.0

Released December 9, 2002.

* Single-cable digital audio/video connection with a maximum bitrate of 4.9 Gbit/s. Supports up to 165 Mpixel/s video (1080p60 Hz or UXGA) and 8-channel/192 kHz/24-bit audio.
However, if you go here at monoprice and order any cable that says "1.3a Category 2" Or more specifically "28AWG HDMI 1.3a Category 2 Certified Male to Male Cables", these cables have double the video bandwidth, TMDS bandwidth, and maximum signal bandwidth.

Direct Link to their HDMI 1.3a Category 2 cables: http://www.monoprice.com/products/su...02&cp_id=10243

Any of the 10 ft will work fine for ya
