q6600 temps @ 3.0GHz

Thread Starter
so i just made this computer last week and just started to OC.. put it at 3GHz and temps rock between 40-42C idle and it overheats 70C on full load test. any ideas on how to lower these temps at all? id also guess its like 70F~ in my room maybe more and any idea why some of my cores are hotter than the others?

thanks

The cores are always a bit different. I've noticed my Quad will range up to 4°-5° depending on what I'm doing.
Those temps are off for sure though.
Might try to reset the HSF on the cpu. Make sure you only use a little bit of thermal paste, too much will cause high temps!
Good luck!

Yea, reseat the heatsink couple of times and it'll eventually get it. Rubbing/Isoproyl alcohol is a good household cleaner to take the paste off and also "purify" the faces. My Q6600 @ 3.4ghz (378x9) runs at 62 62 59 59 on water but thats not with my fans at full speed and i also got GPU block in there. But i've noticed it runs at a difference of 5C between the 2 dies. Core 0 and 1 should be the same and Core 2 and 3 should be the same.
