q6600 temps @ 3.0GHz - Page 2

Are you sure the Tuniq is making contact across that whole chip?
I know it sounds like a stupid question..
Also, what is your fan speeds set too..
You should be running way cooler then that..

i have the fan running on max which is like 2100rpm. the tower is as tight as i could get it and i couldn't see anymore of the screws grains. i don't have that metal curve thing on though since i couldn't figure how to get it on from the horrible paper insert instructions. would it make a difference that it isn't on the tower?

You say a light coat of paste. That sounds like too much. AS5 recommends a very thin line down the center and horizontal or vertical depending on if it's a quad or dual core. I don't like that method because most people make the line too thick and end up with temps too high.
I recommend a RICE sized dot instead unspread. Like this.

Here's a guide for installing the Tuniq Tuner. See if it helps. And if you look at the last picture, it's blurry, but you shouldn't be able to see any threads when the TT is installed right.

I have the Tuniq tower and a q6600 at 3.0ghz as well. I had the EXACT SAME PROBLEM as you and my load temps would hit 75 and i was pissed. Stupid me had the fan facing the wrong direction and didnt even know it. It was blowind towards the power supply and cancling out the air flow. Stupid mistakes can happen. Now i never get above 55 (even doing 10 hour 3ds renders).

ok i think the fans blowing the right way but its right next to my rear fan so it seems like its hitting the rear fan then sort of not being sucked out somehow? if that makes sense just an observation. i can barely feel fan blowing in tuniq tower

are the fans pulling away from each other or blowing away from each other?

Did you set up the BIOS to accept the new fan? Also, did you install the knob thingy that allows you to manually adjust the speed???? I dont know the real name sorry Also, it looks like it is blowing in the right direction, if that is where its really blowing.
