q6600 temps @ 3.0GHz - Page 4

I would like to be able to tell you what my fan speed is to give me my numbers but for some reason No program can detect that on my PC. Weird huh?

Your first thread had pretty normal temperature @ idle. It seems when you load, the cpu temp skyrockets. You don't have to reseat or anything. I think the only solution available is lapping your cpu and tuniq. HOWEVER, lapping only can decrease 2-3 degrees max(most of times). Probably, your cpu is faulty. I have my CPU idle 33-39 degrees @ 3.01GHz. Yours is 2-3degrees higher.

When pasting, don't use your finger or placing the TT but use a razor blade to smooth it out manually(30degrees). I think you wore gloves when you did it, but if you didn't it will give noticible impact toward the performance. Because your fingerprint is thick.
Here's the lapping guide link http://www.overclock.net/air-cooling...wer-guide.html
**Buy sandpapers in autoshop MAKE SURE it's WET Or DRY
**Use a graph paper to check your lapping job(it's better than razor).

If you can RMA your CPU, then do it.

Your CPU isn't supposed to have any bow to it. You could RMA just for that purpose I believe. Or just lap it. But that will void your warranty also..

It wouldn't matter much. He need at least -15 to 20 degrees difference.

yea if the cpu is suppose to be completely flat, then mine isn't.. ill open it up sometime tomorrow and take a picture to show what i mean. i can RMA it with newegg and only thing i need to do is set clock and voltage back to stock right?

also yes first time i used plastic over my finger to apply thermal paste (stuff that came with tuniq tower) but second i just used finger.
