best 9850 MB?

Thread Starter
I know there are reports of Phenoms OC to 3.2 and maybe even as high as 3.71 (doubtful its stable) but not alot of info on these OC's out there. I know I know everyone is a huge intel quad fan right now, but Im interested in knowing what would be the best MB for OC'ing Phenom 9850 currently?

I wouldnt build it till after the 4xxx ATI/GTX280's are available, and really dont care which card the motherboard would accept. SLI/Crossfire would be nice, but seeing the guesstimates on those cards, Im not sure I'll have to have SLI/Crossfire anyway.

So in short, best MB + memory combo for best results on Phenom 9850+?

Thanks

I will tell you that MILAN's 3.7Ghz OC wasnt stable... not even on water. Not on 1.48vcore.

3.0-3.4 is a good goal to set IMO.

Anyway, in ref to your question, I would pick up either an ASUS MVP or a DFI DK-790FX. Those are two of the top AM2+ motherboards out IMO.

I would really suggest you wait until the new SB750 chipset comes out if you can before buying a new board. If not the DFI mentioned above is a great one.

I killed three MBs in my life... well I didn't actually... but they are all Asus
First Crosshair DOA... totally dead!
Second Crosshair can't maintain the voltages causing crashes... they spike beyond the settings
Third Asus P5K, works sometimes sometimes not and even at stock because it never ran long enough to OC.

Strike 3 Asus, your outta here and I intend to never buy Asus again!

Funny how word gets around and now everyone is looking at DFI . . .

I would have even bought another ASUS after the 780g, if it weren't for the punk I talked to in tech support that obviously wasn't worried about the way he was talking to customers.
