Everything look as you'd expect?

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

Just hoping someone can put me at ease, I just loaded CPU-Z for the first time since installing Vista, and saw the VCore jump around a fair bit, it seemed to peak at 1.578, is that a safe/normal stock voltage?

I have previously run this CPU at 3.6 under XP, and saw little improvement - I know it's still the major bottleneck in my aging system, do you think I'd get any noticable FPS increase (Guild Wars / CoD4 in particular) if I pushed it back up to 3.6 and pushed the 3850 as hard as I can?

Thanks,

-Arch@ngel

I think you just have run out. A P4 with 4 gig ram and that vid card is probably the fastest agp system out there. I don't think overclocking it would make a huge difference. As for the vcore im not sure what that chip is rated for. If it is bouncing around alot that could mean a bad mobo i guess.

If your VCore is jumping around, the first thing I'd do is change the PSU. That's the likely culprit in your AGP system. That Northy should be able to handle 1.6v as long as temps don't exceed 60ºC under full load. You've pretty much maxed your system out though
