Any ideas? Temperatures are perfect and I'm getting a ludicrous exhaust 120mm fan with the new GPU (4870 wootles), but I'm starting to think it wasn't temps.

Nice and icey cool in there now though, thanks for the advice
SupahSpankeh, did you already mention that you tried testing with a different PSU? Did you end up checking the rails with a multimeter?

Good luck

SupahSpankeh Its either you have a faulty 3rd core core2.. age of conan seems to crash most of the phenoms out there and alsome some intel CPUs as well.. (same BSOD). Good Luck! I had the same BSOD and I couldn't use my pc for more than 1-2 hours at a time.. I switched to intel (Q9450) and now I am @ 3.4GHz without any probs.

Hi.

I'm not sure it's a faulty core, although I don't know enough about it to rule it out.

See, OCCT ran to 15 minutes until the heat (62C) freaked it out and it shut down. Now it runs for 5 minutes and gives me a Code 1 error at 50C. This is not what I experienced before I changed coolers. I have had difficulty finding an explanation for Code 1 on the itnernets, but what I've found hints at OCCt having troubles rather than a simple core or RAM issue.

So - TF2 can be played for hours. I can stream videos, transcode videos, browse the net, play ETQW/SupCom until the cows come home, but only 30 minutes of AoC. This is the second processor I've had - I RMA'd the first one as faulty. Surely I can't get 2 faulty CPUs? What're the chances of that?

I haven't physically checked the voltage as I don't own a multimeter and wouldn't know where to stick it (har har) if I did

Anyone suggest any software that might help us rule out the faulty core theory? I've got Prime95 running at the moment. Seems happy enough with that... but OCCT bugs out. Oh, and it passes the AMD Stability test (12 hours) from AMD OD.

Mmm. I'm not convinced.

I have just done 4 hours of TF2, Prime95 and AMD OD stability/stress/gaming testing, and it seems just fine. Others have reported that this issue only really came around a week or two back, after Funcom patched something they shouldn't have patched.

(by 4 hours of testing I mean all 3 at once - no noticeable issues or slowdown)

I'm starting to have less faith in OCCT's measurements/appropriateness for Phenom testing. While prime 95 was running it was reporting the 4th core as being 64 degrees. When I close prime 95 it instantly (and I do mean instantly, we're not talking heatloss, we're talking an integer changing from one second to the next) dropped to the 50C that every other core was on.

SupahSpankeh, Have you tried adding some voltage to your NB and SB chips. I had same BSOD problem whenever i OCed my 9500 beyond 2.80 Ghz. But after adding some voltage to both NB and SB now i am pretty much stable at 2.86 GHz.

**** Can anyone tell me how much amperage do i need to the CPU rail of my PSU to push my 9500 beyond 2.90 Ghz? My PSU is a crappy TRUST PowerMaster 570w with 16A on both rails. Above 2.90 Ghz at 1.48+ vid my system crashes instantly whenever i start prime95 blend test no matter whatever i do.

SupahSpankeh, here is a guide that explains on how to check the voltages with a multimeter: http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/guide...ing-guide.html. I don't see how your 9850 could be "faulty", especially if this is your second one. Do you have another AM2 processor that you could test with?

Sweet, I'd recommend at least 25-28amps. With dual rail power supply simply adding up the two rails won't give you the 12volt rail amperage. So it's probably a lot less then 16amps. Do you have a budget for a new power supply?

Good luck guys

Yeah, I've got an old 3800+ dual core. Problem is, if I swap that back in and it's fine, it could still be a PSU issue (not good enough current/voltage/whatever to run a phenom) or a CPU issue (the phenom is faulty again).

From looking at the AMD forums I'm not the only one with this issue, however I am the only one who still has it after an RMA.

Oh, and it failed prime95 last night on a blend. 3 minutes, 2 workthreads.
