Build me a rig for $1500

Thread Starter
I'm looking at options for both AMD and Intel, ATI and nVidia, so throw 'em all at me. I'm trying to get back into PC gaming and possibly sell my 360.

Q9450 = $340
Gigabyte P35-DS3L = $110
EVGA 9800 GX2 = $520
G.Skill 4GB 1066 RAM = $125
Corsair 750w PSU = $120

That leaves you $285 for your choice of case and optical drive and shipping. Or cheap case, cheap optical drive, and a 22" monitor.

I would wait until new graphics cards come out and then make a decision.

So, here it is. It took long timing shoppin.

The Grand Total for your rig is: $1494.36 after rebates and w/o shipping

***IMORTANT NOTES***
  1. This is SLI system.
  2. Make sure you replace the stock Tuniq fan with one I listed.
  3. If you can afford GPU and Ram cooler, then do it.
  4. I don't really like Q9300 because it only has 6lb lache. I'd rather go for Q6600-6700 because it can recieve more volts thus better net OC results. Or upgrade to Q9450, it's really expensive.
  5. You said you already have OS, I strongly recommend 64bit though.
  6. Make sure you set the 2 HD's into RAID mode in BIOS.
  7. If you wanna cut some money from this list, you can degrade CPU, GPU, CASE or MOBO and nothing else.
  8. If you choose to degrade because of short budget, make sure your MOBO, GPU, and PSU is compatible with SLI or non SLI technology. Either ALL SLI or NON-SLI(save money)

ENJOY

Wait for the HD4k series to come out, it's only a few weeks. They should be real killers when it comes to priceerformance.
