Well, Coolwaters, I tried to find a good combo for you, but even the OS would take out 1/3 of $180 budget....

Here's what i would go with...

MOBO-$50

CPU-$35

RAM-$25

HDD$47

DRIVE-$22

if you don't think she'll need that 160 gig HDD, you could go with an 80 like this, and upgrade the CPU, or just save the $ and use it for shipping because it goes a little over!

lol whoops forgot about the os, you could skimp on the mobo, and go for 512 mb ram, lol but still you might need a lil higher budget

im not much of a AMD fan since i experience extreme lag with it at work...

i'll probably end up getting a E2180 for $50...

well the cheapest/best performance one i could find was around $50 free shipping here it already has onboard vid, but you would need to go for ddr2 667 like this its about $20

:S not to sure if your budget could hadle this tho

On the low end AMD has really no competition, and here's why: you can get a super-cheap AsRock mobo 49$(5/5 score mind you) and a 4200 X2 48$ for a quality build. The onboard GPU can run AERO and some light gaming. For 64$ on the mobo you can have the 780V chipset that provides decent graphic performance and HD accelerated playback.
