Get me stable! - Page 2

well, then i'm completely F***ed because using OCCTs stress-test system, my temps get to 73/73/63/63 on a full load. I'm going to go back to original settings real quick and see what the temps are under a full load at 2.5.

I really don't understand what the deal is. I have this hulking aftermarket cooler that was supposedly pretty darn good. I have AS5 on there, which was just applied today but...do you think that "break in period" will make a difference between 73 degrees and 67 or 68 degrees.

The only thing i can think of to lower temps even more is lapping my CPU and i don't even feel comfortable doing that to my computer.

I don't think these temps were much different from what they were with the original heatsink/fan either..

ugh.

put your hand behind the cooler itself

is there warm air coming out?

My 45nm E8400 ALWAYS loads at 70C.... at 2ghz,3ghz,4ghz, and now 4.3 ghz.... allways the same temp.
You might have a bad sensor... you using Real Temp? dont use OCCT, it reads reallly high for 45nm CPUs

and the zerotherm isnt that good... its aluminum...

the TRUE120, Tuniq Tower, XimaTek HDT, and recenty some say the OCZ vendetta *unsure* are best

the TRUE120 has the best heat load, especially when used with mega-powerful fans (100 CFM and up)

Im on watercooling and my CPU loads at 70*C

yeah right

i'm using CoreTemp to measure my processor temps.

right now under a full load @ 2.5GHz, i'm getting about 64-67/64-67/52/52C

funny thing is the air coming out from teh back of the heatsink is not even warm....like, it's room temp if that. I'm hoping it's just a bad reading or something then because this is retarded.

on a full load, when it read it at 2.5GHz as 68C or whatever, i took the chance of actually touching the heatsink ( not sure if it should be blazing hot or even mildly warm) and it wasn't warm at all so, i don't know if my heatsink is just a PoS or what. yay. i'll try one of those different temp readers you mentioned.

Imagine that : full load, real temp says 62 Celsius. G'bye CoreTemp, it obviously does not support quad cores or 45nm technology, i dunno which yet, but all i can say is /hurray.

Thanks a ton for suggesting the different temp mod to me bro.

Now, back to the overclockage!!!!!!! Let's get this sassy lady up to 3.3-3.4 >< then i'll clock'er back down to break in the AS5.

I told you to use it from the first post lol, I know Coretemp is about 10*C off because they read power ratings wrong for 45nm CPus

and do not exceed 1.35 volts on CPU core.

then you are good to do as you please

hi m8!
i have had my q9300 stable for 1 hour testing in OOCT, so its doable.
i have found realtemp to show the closest to right temps.
you should loosen the ram much in the beginning, that takes them away from the OC in the start.
it is possible to make it run on low voltages stable, but in the beginning, set the vcore to ca. 1.25, and the NB to ca. 1.4
im at 3.0 now, and have vcore at 1.168, and NB at 1.34. but i have thinkered around a lot to come down on the voltages.
in OCCT you can choose to test ram, cpu, or both, up to the left/middel of the prog., try to test ram and cpu one at the time, and see wich of them that isnt stable, that will help you on.

With temps skewed that much between cores... I'd venture to say there is a HS seating or TIM application issue or both!
