You guys are sick...

Hehe, figured that title would get you in here...

I've got to say, you guys are sick. I was always thinking of clocking my Q6600 to around 3GHz, and MAYBE 3.5, but when I saw you guys were pushing the beast's to over 5, I had to get in on it... My System Specs are as follow, but I'm planning some more upgrades for the next few weeks.

Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 (G0 Stepping) [4 Cores @ 2.8Ghz Each]
Abit AW9D-MAX MoBo (Intel 975X)
2GB DDR2-800 OCZ Platinum (Soon to be 4GB)
500GB WD Caviar GP HDD (Probably going to pick up one or two more...)
BFG nVidia 7600GT-OC (Planning an upgrade to a BFG 9800GTX-OC)
450 Watt Logisys PSU (ZALMAN ZM600-HP [600 Watt] in the mail already!)
Sony 16x DVD+RW Drive (x2 HP DVD1070i SATA 20x DVD+RW Drives w/ LightScribe planned for next week)

Generic Case w/ Custom Paint (WAY to much time last summer...) lol
(Planning on an Antec Twelve Hundred Soon)

Anyway, hope to get to know everyone here soon!

welcome plz fill in your system specs in the user cp

and just dream about 5ghz
Hi there!

Believe me, there're VERY few members here who've hit 5Ghz, and I don't think there's a single person that's run that 24/7 for very long

3.5Ghz is very attainable, good goal.

No one I have seen have a Q6600 at 5ghz here. I would say 3.5-3.7 is a realistic expectation.
lol, I could see 5ghz on a quad is if some has some killer LN2 setup.

Word... a Q6600 past 4.0GHz takes a great deal of voltage to boot and even then, probably won't be stable... world records don't take into account stability and definitely not sustainable usage (i.e. cooling with DICE or LN2)

Expecting more than 3.4-3.7GHz without high-high-end cooling is just setting yourself up for disappointment

True... I have a Celly at 5.0GHz stable (6 hours Orthos), but a Quad?? No way. The Celly is now running 4.85GHz though, since the Tuniq fan is just way too loud when I have it at 5.0GHz... with a little downclock I don't have to run the fan at 100%. I want to sleep you know

I love Cellys, even thought they're slow and I want yours.

I know... in terms of real world performance.... nothing.

Lol, man, it's freakin' busy here, isn't it?

Once I get, what I like to call, BlaKBliT (BlackBullet) Up and running, I'm planning on putting a system back together from older parts.
(AKA Pushing that old Socket 754 Sempron 3000+ past it's 2.4Ghz limit...)

(I get the name for my new system from my past few systems, which have run under my SilverBullet 'line,' due to the case's paint...) lol
