Another build advice thread (sorry)

Hey. I'm looking to build a new system once the new ATI cards are released in a few weeks. As you can tell from the system in my sig , I don't get to upgrade very often so I'll need something that will last me the next 4-5 years.I do plan to OC, and the most demanding thing for the system would probably be gaming. My budget is about $1500-2000 CAD, but obviously I'd prefer to spend less if possible. Here goes:

Motherboard: Dk x48-T2RS? (no clue really)
CPU: Q6700 (or Q6600?)
CPU Cooler: Xigmatek HDT-S1283
RAM: G.SKILL F2-8000CL5D-4GBPI Pi PC2-8000 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-1000 (cheaper than 4GBPQ kit for some reason and greater availability)
HDD: (1x) WD6400AAKS
PSU: Corsair TX750
Video Card: 4870
Case: Already have
DVD: Already have

Still undecided on the motherboard, but the reason for the x48 chipset is that I'll likely go with CF depending on the prices of the new ATI cards, and again, this system has to last me a while.
I chose the Q6700 over the Q6600 since after reading around, the newer Q6600 don't seem to be OCing as far as the older G0 chips. Whether it's worth it or not, I was hoping you guys could help me . the Q9450 is also a possibility, but I'm not sure the extra cost is really worth it. I realize the E8400 would probably be better for gaming, but I'm hoping that getting a quad now will pay off further down the line.

Sorry for the long post .

p.s. I live in Canada, so I can't use Newegg . So most of the parts will probably be coming from either NCIX or DirectCanada.

The build looks pretty good. Let us know what you decide on the Mobo. As for the CPU, I would go with the Q6700 because of the higher multi, and the newer Q6600's don't o/c as well as the older ones.

Motherboard: -go with this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136046 $270
CPU: Q6700 (or Q6600?) -go with the q6700 your information on the processor situation is quiet accurate. $250
CPU Cooler: -go with either a tuniq tower or a true these are the two best coolers to get right now. the true is like 20-30 bucks more for like -2 degrees so get the true if u want to spend the most possible, otherwise get the tuniq $50-70
RAM: -i would go with a 1066 kit for some guarenteed 1:1 clocks g.skill is good or if you want another option corsairs dominator is another good brand to go with. link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145197 $110
HDD: (1x) WD6400AAKS -looks fine $100
PSU: Corsair TX750 -again fine $100
Video Card: 4870 -another good call $300
Case: Already have
DVD: Already have
alright man these are my suggestions towards the build, i tryed to follow your specs best i could. i used some newegg links just because i am familiar with it if you cant find the products at your own sites tell me and i can look for something else. $1180-1200 for all of this will leave you way within budget and if you want you could hit your 2k budget with lets say
-crossfire 4870 $300
-second HDD $100 OR switch out the HDD u have with a velociraptor $200
-second kit of ram $110
-up the corsair 750w to a silverstone 1k watt $220
all of this would only cost you $730-830 which would leave your budget at $1910-2030 right on the margin, all of the last few options could be subbed out depending on how much you want to spend assuming you get everything mentioned at the start of my post leaving some deciding up to you on how much of your budget you want to spend. one last option you have is to leave 400 bucks or so towards watercooling and go that route. good luck ^_^ thread is subed if u have any questions on my picks.

Thanks for the replies.

I've looked at the LT x48-T2R, but it's pretty expensive and the NB heatsink also worries me with larger CPU coolers. Would it be that much of a difference compared to the Dk version? Another possibility is the x48-DS4 which costs about the same as the DFI DK x48.

As for CPU coolers, the TRUE was my first choice but after looking around, the Xigmatek and other HDT coolers seem to get around the same performance for much less $$$. And it looks like I'll be going with the Q6700 .

As for the memory, would a 1066 kit help since from what I understand I'd be underclocking the memory anyways to run at 1:1. If I'm way off just let me know, it's been a while since I last used any "up to date" hardware .

the t2r is a great board and has room for a large cpu cooler ^_^
if u dont want to go for a true my next best choice is a tuniq tower ^_^
if you are going to be clocking your 6700 up to 4.0 like im going to try to get mine with a similar setup your going to want 1066 ram for a easy 1:1 some 1000 ram might clock up to 1066 but would put extra stress on it that could eventualy burn it out ^_^

Alright, I think I'm going to go with the LT version... unless anyone else has any suggestions? It costs about $40 more than the Dk but hopefully it'll be worth it. Btw, thanks for your help wildfire .
