8800GT on Pentium 4 2.8Ghz? (Bottleneck) - Page 2

There would be a performance gain but you wouldn't be taking complete advantage of the 8800GT.

You need a new processor man, i remember when i had a 3ghz prescot and saw no increase in performance when going from a 6600le to an 8600gt untill i got my new processor.

Like already said you may be able to give more aa but in games like crysis theres no point anyway.

It won't "bottleneck". Your performance will go up considerably (in games), specially if you crank up the resolution and/or play GPU bound games (which are most new games). Your performance will suffer in the CPU heavy parts, like in games with heavy use of physics and/or similar operations that require raw CPU power (unit AI in strategy games for example).

Do you think overclocking the CPU would make any difference, or would I still be better off getting a Core 2 Duo? I just blew what little money I had on the graphics card, so I really don't have much to be spending on a CPU...
