So I have been doing some reading about OCing and I can find nothing that talks about my motherboard with my processor. I will list what choices I have and hopefully someone can help me. I also ran CPU-Z and its telling me that my Q9450 is running at 2.0GHz and my bus speed is 333.3 and FSB is 1333 with a Multiplier of 6. When I go into my BIOS(0402) it tells me im running at the 2.66 speed with a multiplier of 8. I do not understand why they are telling me something different.

So I have the choices of JumperFree Config, AI net 2, CPU config, chipset, PCIPnP, onboard device config, USB config. I go into jumperfree config and have AI tuning, overclock options, system clocks, voltage control and FSB & mem config. Anyone got an idea what i should do now?

Have you disabled all of your basics yet? Speedstepping, C1E, watchdog, etc - pretty much any of the extra "features" can be disabled - that would explain the 8 multiplier down to 6.

Once you do that try putting your FSB at 400MHz with an 8x multiplier.

Put your CPU vCore at 1.35 for starters.
North bridge(MCH) at 1.5v
FSB at 1.4v

Make sure your RAM is unlinked and set to factory specs for the time being. Overclock that later.

I have disabled everything you mentioned except watchdog(dont know what that is) and my CPU goes up to a multiplier of 8 when its under load. My motherboard also only allows me to change the actual FSB, so I have no idea what that should be at. Its at 1333 now. I also have a Vcore Voltage in the power tab(1.28V or ignore are my choices) cannot find FSB voltage anywhere. Under voltage control I have Vcore, DRAM, HT, NB, SB. I also have under CPU config Execute Disable Bit (enabled) Virtualization Tech (enabled) everythign else is disabled. Thanks for the help

Also disable EIST, Disable Bit an Virt Tech.

FSB ratings on a 8x multi will be 1500 - 3.0... 1550 - 3.1... 1600 - 3.2... 1650 - 3.3... 1700 - 3.4.... 1750 - 3.5.... 1800 - 3.6....

Dont go over 1.36v on core

HT may be your FSB voltage

be sure to stress test.. I recommend OOCT 2hr cpu test

Here are your processor's limitations, make sure you do not go above them. Quads are even more sensitive than duos when it comes to killing them. Also cap your VTT (FSB voltage) to 1.35v at max, if you are hardcore then 1.40v TOPS.
