Hey guys, im graduating from high school and going to Virginia Tech next year and I was looking for a laptop for school with me my budget is 2000-2500USD I was looking at the Gateway FX and the Voodo Envy you can pick anything else though those just caught my eye

the gateway fx has major bang for your buck. you can get alot with 2 grand pretty much anywhere. i chose gateway because of the 8800m gts, which most other laptops dont have. even the alienwares in my price range didnt have that.

Sorry, I just had to get that outta the way before someone else said it. I apologize, and deeply sorry if anyone on here lost a loved one.

Try this for $899, it's 500 off so it's a great buy.

EDIT: didn't notice your high budget, nonetheless it's a great deal

With that kind of cash you can pick up a really nice lappy. But since it's for school, I dont see the need to spend that much. I recently bought a HP dv2807nr , slapped ubuntu on there and it runs excellent! If you wish to buy one for that much the Gateway FX is a good way to go, so is a Toshiba Satellite, or an HPcompaq. There are many to choose from obviously, choose well . May I also suggest you upgrade to at least a 12cell battery for longer battery life.

I was thinking of buying one of these:http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1204332501169 and upgrading the CPU to a T9300 but would it better to get retail so I can get a good warranty and accidental damage protection
