Unfortunatly your board only supports up to the 'D' series CPU's.

Amazing how fast technolgy is moving now.. I feel for you as the stuff we buy only seems to last a month or so now untill the next thing is out .

I suppose you could try a new, cheaper mainboard that would support a dual core CPU which will then compliament your new card?

Also perhaps you could try your new 8800gt and see how it does on the 'D' processor.. and If possible overclock it.

Palit makes some nice cards. I myself went with a 9600GT and it works great. very nice quality, I too was skeptical about them but I am glad I went with it, not a single problem.

Well its in and running. I d-loaded 175.16 and all in well. Its a biiiiig card, its really close to my southbridge heatsink.

congrats!! you wont regret you palit VC. did you get the sonic version? they come factory OC'd and with custom heatsinks. best value for money

my palit 9600gt sonic is one nasty overclocker, it comes oc'd @ 700/2000 vs 650/1800

but i was able to push to 800/2120 temps @ 51C idle, fan speed 35%
