I'd suggest a Q6600, TRUE heatsink with some decent fans like the scythe Ultra Kaze, a Corsair psu, antec 1200 case and a DFI Dark motherboard if you want an intel chipset or an evga 750i if you want an Nvidia chipset, for the HDD I'd go for the Samsung F1 500gb
I've been waiting forever for the next graphics cards to come round the corner but i cant afford the high end ones anymore anyway, i guess the 8800 gtx will come down in price or watever though..... what graphics cards are you referring to anyway , these gtx280's or watever?

and yeah ill probably just go DDR2, i was just thinking a DDR3 board would be good so it can be upgraded further in the future... but anyway i think it will prob be the q6600, 8800 GTS 512, 4 gig ram and maybe 2 drives for raid 0

Jason, the 8800GTS is basically the 8800GTX, its slightly better when OC's, uses less power and produces less heat - as well as being considerably cheaper

=)

I was referring to the Ati 4xxx series, however:

*Insert Star Wars theme tune*

If you can sell anything to get another £90 towards your build, you might want to take a look at this:

Please do not waste £469 on a graphics card Jason... Its not worth it... The Price / Performance is AWFULLL, you'd have slower loads due to a worse HDD, less RAM and an inferior motherboard

Oh, and you wont have the Antec 1200 you want

The 8800GTS 512 is still a high end card, it'll play pretty much all your games on High / Max specs with a good FPS

The GTX 280 is just a crysis epeen card, it is not needed for any other game apart from Crysis and benchmarking

yeah I definitely agree with this, I will be playing games but probably not at huge resolutions anyway
