If you want to save money, get the EarthWatts 430 for $30. It is almost the same PSU as the Corsair one.

The loudest component of a well built HTPCs are the hard drives by far. Get the Western Digital GP instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136149

You don't need a video card. The 780G is powerful enough to run any BluRay at 1080p easily. Under full load, the motherboard uses around 25w... and that with it running video.

Thanks Duckie! Hdd changed. What about a hsf? Wouldnt an aftermarket one be quieter than the stock one?

EDIT: Sound card? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829156005

Definitely. I have a 65w X2 with an old Zalman HSF.... I run it at 700RPMs constantly even under load. It's virtually quiet.

I would also look at getting the slightly upgraded CPU below. Only 7 dollars more, I mean, why not

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103255

I think the Samsung drive is a good choice, second only to the WD GP drives for quiet, but they are also better perfomers. But Duckie is a smart guy, and you can't go wrong with the WD GP either.

EDIT: my mistake, i thought it was a F1 drive she had picked. Good looking out, DH. Told ya he was smart

If you want good performance and quiet, check out the Samsung F1 instead. However, you don't need performance for a HTPC since BluRay at 1080p needs less than 5MB/s. (The GP does at least 45MB/s)
