Let's refrain from comparing the GX2 to the GTX280. It's a bit asanine. Since when do we compare the next gen card, to SLI'd flagships from the previous generation? It just doesn't make sense. Did we compare the 8800GTX to 2 x 7800GTX SLI? No. So why would people compare the GTX280 to two 9800GTXs (aka 9800GX2).

When Nvidia comes out with the GX2-280, then you can compare. Though I do think that they should drop the price of that card into the 550-600 range.

simply cuz the 9800GX2 wasn't released too long ago.
i'm not the guy to get a 600+ videocard anyway.

Well, they are both single-slot cards, and considering the 9800GX2 costs LESS than the GTX280, and it is the flagship of the previous generation, I would say its a valid comparison.

And by the way man, yes they did compare the 7950GX2 to the 8800gtx. Many times.

"1.5x faster than the 9800 GX2"

ha ha ha ha. Is it just me or is nvidia's new GPU ideas just "use what we have and just clock it a bit more" remember what happened to the 9800gtx it was basically a 8800gts only slightly faster for a lot more money XD.
Actually the GX2 is 2x downclocked 8800gts, not 2 9800gtx but the point is moot.

1 gb of ram addresses the fact that the 8800gtx and 8800 ultra have an advantage at high res in certain games due to their larger capabilities of the 8800gts and 9800gtx cards.

If this singl card matches the GX2 or surpasses it slightly for the same price point (or less), then I consider that a solid advancement.

For example, 1 8800gtx was faster than 2 x7900gtx in sli. I know this as I had a pair of 7900gtx in sli and went to a single 8800gtx (later two of them). Sure the gtx was $600 when it came out but the 7900gtx were $500 when they were released.

Not to mention the lower power requirements.
