There are not really any games at the moment that justify a GTX280 really. Crysis you can just about play on high, but i wouldn't be prepared to spend so much money for poor performance. Every other game can pretty much be played at high with current hardware.

I guess it's all down to bragging rights.

Well the only thing good in this graphics card that has improve is "How much faster can you render the blue screen of death?".

price is horrid ....performance (appears) to be nothing ground breaking compared to the 8800s G80 launch

so its 75% higher in cost

for what appears to be 10 - 20% increase in performance

for gaming, it seems that the 9800GX2 is on par with the GTX280 which really is a surprise to me. I guess there are other features that make this card worthwhile, but who will use them?

The price is a total fail. I would rather spend less than $200 for an 8800GTS G92 and get the most bang for my buck.

I guess now we will just have to see how the 4850/4870 cards compare. Pricewise, they will certainly be more favorable.

Yea, was thinking about going back to Nvidia this round but I think I'll wait. the GTX 280 just doesn't seem to have that "OMG I have to have" effect that I was looking for.

You can't deny for a single core gfx card though it is a beast and if you can't/don't want a SLI or Crossfire setup then the 280 could be useful, kinda sorta in a way.

Well said. I agree that it is mostly bragging rights as most hardware can handle most anything out there. Well you got everyone trying to max out the overrated Crysis, but honestly is it worth the 650 dollars for a new GPU to max out ONE game?! Im still happy playing on the go with my 8600m GT!

Id have to see a couple in real life action... IE someone other than the "trusted review" sites...

Ill wait til i see a thread from a member of oc.net saying how well or not it does...

Remember, just cause you read it on the internet, doesnt mean its true
