Oh, right, we're talking SLI (i forgot!)--that score is a bit low. 7K Vantage points is about what it should be, as ZealotKi11er said.

cards not getting enough power?? For SLI it's a good idea to have a 600watt plus PSU from what I've seen people saying. Just a thought

Yeah, I just realized there is no Vantage 3dmark06. That's somewhat of a relief, even though the comparables appear to blow me out of the water.

If the PS was a limiting factor, wouldn't there be some sort of system error if I was underpowered? I've heard the computer fails hard if the PS can't keep up, but I could be wrong.

I was thinking this might be an issue when I was considering which PS I should buy, but I ran eXtreme Power Supply Calculator with all of my system specs (including OC) and it came out to 358W. I would think 500W from a good PS should be more than ample.

It could reboot itself if it runs into an instance where it can't get enough power, bsod then restart but I have read that sometime graphics cards can shut down to lower clocks if they can't get enough power, maybe your main card is getting the power it needs but the 2nd one goes into low power mode without causing an error. Just a guess.

You could test it with only 1 card installed and see how that goes, then try with SLI and compare.

Good advice. I'll mess around with it a bit when I get home.

TYVM for all of the quick replies guys! Thanks for your patience too, it's tough to post all of this from work when half of the sites I need are blocked.

I agree. Its most definately the PSU.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814143126
read the section where it says you need 28A on the 12V line for (1) card. youd probably need atleast 35A for 2.

Edit: dont get confusedwith Watts. a 500W PSU would be fine as long as it had enough juice on the 12v lines

And that was good idea to look at as it will give you a good general idea of what you need wattage wise but when it comes to GPU's it's important to look at the amperage a PSU can provide. I don't know the rated amp draw for a 9600GT is but will look it up.

hah nice U-Dubominator found it, it really might explain the issue.

Oooo ya, good call. I just bought the PS from a local supplier, so I'll switch it out for a 650W or 700W and see how it comes out on Vantage and 3dmark06. Thanks again guys!!!
