Looking for a quite psu

Thread Starter
I am looking for a new psu, it must be quiet.
I currently have a stock raidmax psu that came with my case which is pretty loud. I am running a 2.8 ghz core 2 duo, and i am soon to buy a gtx 260 otherwise 8800 sli.

Any suggestions on what I should get, my budget is around 100-150, and also taking advice on how many watts i will need to run my upgraded system. Thx

You know you can just replace the fan. Its the only part of your PSU that makes noise. Well, its the only part that SHOULD make noise lol.

I don't know of any quite PSU but I do know of some quiet ones....

Check out Corsairs PSUs... They are low cost but great performers and quiet. A 550VX or 520HX Modular will do you fine. A 450VX would even be ok. Check them out at www.buy.com

I wouldn't recommend do so unless the users is knowledgable about PSU handling and fan specifications. Is the fan loud due to the fact that the fan is bad... or is the PSU bad and actually needs a high CFM/loud fan? Replacing it with an underpowered fan may cause the PSU to perform dangerously.
