Kill the one you sold your cards to, then sell them again, and kill that person again. Continue this routine until you have enough money for 2 GTX280 !

BTW.. Getting a girlfriend is free, but maintaining your relationship won't be

Anyway, I would get an 9800GX2. You can always upgrade to Quad-SLi and when drivers get better I'm sure it'll do wonders

Ah, but maintaining i can be very low cost. Me and my girlfriend perty much agree to not spend tons of money on eachother. For the big "one year" , we didn't even buy anything for eachother and were ok with it. Just gotta find a low cost, low maintnence girl. lol "The best bang for your buck"

OT - I'd go with something newer than the 8800GTS's in SLi. It is a step up, but not a huge one from your GT's. Maybe in the future u could do SLi 280s. I would go with the 280. (Maybe if they go down in price though, or the 260).

The card is going to be phased out now that the new series is out. Mhill tried everything except voodoo to get good performance out of his pair of GX2's with only limited success.

If you recall the 7950GX2's were a huge bomb for the same reason. the 8800gtx came out and made the card redundant.

We keep saying that performance will improve once the drivers get better but I have seen very little to justify this overly optimistic statement.
i agree, i am waiting to see when drivers will get better for quad sli. i am interested in trying one gx2, but not 2.

Hey Mman, I sympathize with you. I actually feel a little bad now for saying that bit about life being over. I was only kidding, because I'm still waiting to get my second GT for my own SLI purposes, and I have not moved on from them yet.

But I wish I knew more about the GTS and such, because I promise I would offer you much better advice. I didn't realize so many people would be getting on here to bash you and your choices.

I don't blame you for wanting to upgrade, I think we're both kind of the same way. You get bored with what you've had and you're ready to try something different and better. There's nothing wrong with that. Don't let all these 16 year old kids get to you. They're just echoing what the bullies at school tell them about girlfriends and computer games. LOL

I'm currently saving for the GTX280 after seeing the reviews. It finally seems like it's *the card* to upgrade from my Ultra with. It's sexy and a beast. I will however, miss my Ultra. It's so sexy looking too!

No hard feelings man. i took your comment as a joke, but some of these other people.....

Oh, don't worry they are not getting to me. It is easy to criticize when you are hiding behind a computer screen.

Yeah, i get the itch to upgrade every few months. Thankfully my wife understands. It also doesn't hurt to own your own business, so i can write off any of my upgrade expenses.

Sigh... I'll let you read that again. Heck, let me give you a hand. If OP decides between a GTX260/80 I would go with a 260. If he decided to go with a pair of GTS, Robilar's price is a bargain for those cards.

some people do not read the entire thread. Thanks again to everyone that gave constructive answers. I will decide within the next few days.

as an owner of 2x 8800gts in sli i can say this get them from rob i wish i could but the wife wont let me she says i can take 1 of my cards out and put it in my spare rig which currently has a 7900gtx in :'(

there performance is unparalled and they Do outperform the 9800gtx when overclocked by a very good margin!

I'm kind of leaning towards what this guy is saying. The 8800GTS's are nice, I have a single one, but with the new cards just around the corner, you may get that "itch" again very soon.

Personally, I'm waiting for results from the ATi 4850's and 4870's, and around that time prices for the GTX260 and 280 might drop a little.

And since your also wanting to try out an X2 I'd say you may want to see what the 4870X2 will have to offer.

Hard to choose really. Maybe wait for the ATi cards and just buy the best performing setup available.

I'd like to run my own business. Got any tips for a 23 yr old in the audio field?
