Painting one of my cases this week

Thread Starter
I was re-organizing my shop yesterday and ran across these bottles of paint that a car detailer gave me.
I completely forgot they were in there, not more than a year old.
Anyway, this motivated me to paint my thermaltake case. This thing has needed a fresh coat of paint for a while.
+ I just got ahold of a porter cable 150psi compressor

These are the colors I am trying to pick from. I might do some sort of two tone or airbrush some effects on it.

I wanted to get some opinions on color combinations.
My favorites so far are the chrystler blue and the nissan dark grey.
I will be starting the project as soon as I get off work, any input would be greatly appreciated!

Some colors are obvious, but what is the list of colors you have there?

Thanks for the replies!

Some of the colors' labels are not legible, but I have a LOT of colors. Too many to list.
There was an entire box of these and I just picked out the ones I liked best.
If one looks like the color of your car and you need paint, let me know.

I am going to try out a cannon server case with the nissan grey with a silver or black two tone before I move onto any others. I have dual Xeon 2.4 604 pin processors and a supermicro server board to throw in it when I'm done. Should run at 5ghz with no issues, but I have not expiramented with the board yet. I an currently dismantling the old computer/case.
(dual slot 1 700mhz LOL anyone intetested?
I'm even taking the rivets out and reinstalling all the panels/hardware after it is painted.
Pictures will be posted by tomorrow, depending on how long this takes me.

Are you an experienced painter?
A few slick light coats of clear over the base color and a smooth 800 grit before applying the second color will avoid screwing up the metallic base coat when you tape off the second color.

Yes, I have alot of expierence painting.
I have a side job rebuilding salvage cars (from my local insurance auction). More of a hobby really, but it makes me more than my actual job does, lol.
Thanks for the tip though.
I will probably spray around 5 - 7 coats of clear all together, I want this thing to shine.

If your using an Acrylic Urethane clear, excessive coats over time will chalk out
Two light slick coats between the bases adds depth too
Top coat of clear, I wouldn't recommend more than 3-4 medium light coats though. .. thats enough to wet and wheel and still prevent chalking.
One n00b painter I worked with put 9 coats on an Eldo, in 6 months it was a chalk ball and the owner ate stripping and refinishing it.

my plan was to spray 4-5 (not heavily sprayed) coats over the finished product then wetsand the crap out of it with 1200.
I will also buff it to a high gloss, it shouold look pretty nice.

And Duke, the clear I am using is made for cars, it can be put on in as many layers as I feel like sanding off, I shouldnt get any sort of clouding.
I believe it is just an enamel with a hardener addative.

P.S. almost done dismantling

Just got done sanding and rocking out to the Led Zepplin box set.
I cut out the fan grills on the back, I have to figure out what other kind of modding I want to do before I start the priming phase.
I will post pics tomorrow afternoon on the case mod log section.
I decided I am going silver and the nissan dark grey two tone with a dark grey satin metal flake on the inside. Should look badass when it's done. Like I said, Pictures tomorrow!
