Help picking new Mobo + Processor

Thread Starter
Hey everyone... Just upgraded my graphics card, and decided it's time to get rid of my old AMD Processor and Mobo, and go Intel.

That being said, I've spent the majority of my workday (lol) narrowing down my choices, and have decided that for my purposes and budget, I'm going to go with an Intel Dual Core E8000's processor of some sort. Probably a E8400? I'm not too sure then, what the best board to pair this with would be. I'm definitely going to Overclock - want something that won't be irrelevant any time soon - and would like it to look nice through my case and neon if possible.

Without knowing a whole bunch about compatible boards, the 780i seems like it might be a good choice, and it's within my budget.... but I'd still love any help you guys could give me.

Thanks in Advance!!!!

E7200 and a 750i FTW mobo would be your best budget route.

E8400 and a 780i mobo would be the best more expensive route.

Sorry... Also, I'm not necessarily set on an 8400 persay.

Basically, my budget is 500 and under for both mobo and processor. I don't do any rendering or 3D modeling type stuff on my computer - mainly just gaming, multimedia, etc. That's why I nixed the quad core, just seems like I can get the same performance for what I'm doing from a duo. (Ex: Playing eve online on big monitor while browsing, IM'ing, whatever else on 2nd monitor)

I've got decent cooling, and am willing to push the OC reasonably...

I just know that my Processor and board are definitely dated - I got a nice fat bonus from work - and want to buy something shiny

I'm not entirely sure how he is running that current setup on 350 watts... But it's going.

A new PSU I would say this:

Seems about right for me. You won't be disappointed.

However, I must strongly urge you to get a new Power Supply. The 8800GT is kind of power hungry, and SLI is out of the question until you upgrade the PSU. At minimum, for one 8800GT, I would recommend 500W. If you want SLI, probably more than that.
