Whats a better SLI value? 8800gt or 9600gt? - Page 2

9600gt's perform better in SLI.

From CustomPC Magazine UK (best magazine ever?)

8800gt SLI:

FPS: 9% (1680x1050)
Driving: 77% (1680x1050)
RTS: -63% (1680x1050)
All Games: 8% (1680x1050)

FPS: 20% (1900x1200)
Driving: 61% (1900x1200)
RTS: -53% (1900x1200)
All Games: 13% (1900x1200)

9600gt SLI

FPS: 47% (1680x1050)
Driving: 65% (1680x1050)
RTS: 2% (1680x1050)
All Games: 42% (1680x1050)

FPS: 49% (1900x1200)
Driving: 72% (1900x1200)
RTS: 3% (1900x1200)
All Games: 44% (1900x1200)

The "-" symbol indicates a decrease in performance. Tests used the latest WHQL drivers.

The games tested included: ArMA, CoD4, CoH (DX9), Crysis, DiRT, NFS: PS, Elder Scrolls 4, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, Supreme Commander, Team Fortress 2.

Averages of scored were taken and a percentage score given (compared to a single card setup)

I find your statistics interesting. But hard to decipher. % of what? Like -5% of what? I don't get what it is measuring exactly...

I owned a 9600 and loved it, but I was coming from a 7900 and skipped the whole 8x series so... I could see myself in a TRI 9600 SLI rig... just cuz it sounds cool

Compared to a single card

It just shows that going from a 8800gt to 8800gt SLI isn't a big step whereas SLI'ing 9600gt really makes a difference and justifies the cost.

you couldn't go wrong with either! both are great for gaming! Just decide how much you want to spend and if $40 is worth the small boost in performance. I will always recommend evga however, the warranty and step-up are worth the money.

9600SLI scale is better but overall is about the same. Go for the cheaper one.
