ALL voltages are stock. It WILL NOT allow me to up the voltage on anything. I have the OPTION to up my CPU voltage and VDimm...and that's it. And CPU voltage does nothing.

PSU is PLENTY big enough. CPU is NOT overheating (hits 55*C max load at stock), RAM is all stock at 667MHz 5-3-3-5-15-2T with 1.90v.

I've even tried putting my RAM at 1:1...still doesn't matter. I'm about 90% sure its the CPU voltage that's holding me back since its STUCK at 1.20v. And most of these options that the BIOS does have....I've never even heard of. Getting pics up in a second.
You have to up the NB voltage if you want to overclock it farther. Vcore will only get you so far, it's the chipset that is holding you back.

Also, this may not help at all, but if you tighten your CAS to 3, it may get a little better.

Well it seems that this ECS motherboard just flat out sucks.

So...gonna try out the 3.2GHz Pentium D in my Asus P5LD2. I know it has better overclocking support...it got my 2.8 PD up to 3.2Ghz stable just fine. So maybe I'll have better luck there. And my 2.8GHz Pentium D will go into the ECS board, run stock with the 1GB of Ballistix, and that'll be my other HTPC rig (if it don't overheat).

Thanks for the help guys.

.

I came to the same conclusion on ECS after about my 10th build with them. It's no wonder Fry's can basically give them away free with the purchase of a processor.

Pentium D 940 3.2GHz CPU
1GB (2x512MB) Crucial Ballistix DDR2-667

My problem:
I cannot for the LIFE OF ME get this thing to overclock at all! I raise the voltage because I'm sure that's what's holding me back...it does NOTHING! It stays at 1.20v!!! I've raised the QDR????? up to 840MHz (which would mean 210FSB). That works just fine, and puts me to 3.34GHz. But ANYTHING past 840 QDR, doesn't POST. I've raised my voltage...again, does nothing.
The ECS nForce 570 is based on the nForce 4 chipset, which was a horrendous overclocker. It has nothing to do with the chipset cooling, it's purely down to the poor architecture of the chipset itself. Don't let the "570" designation throw you as it simply means that it's an nForce 4 northbridge with an MC55 southbridge. There was no such thing as an nForce 5. I'm afraid that there isn't really anything you can do to realistically overclock any higher than what you've already attained so far.

Here's a tip to bear in mind from the wise when it comes to clocking:

The choice of motherboard is the absolute most important aspect if you seriously want to atain high clocks on a given system. Followed by cooling, power, and finally memory.

I've had that CPU in 3 different boards. All 3 of them let me overclock to 3.84 Ghz without even trying. They were all Asus boards though. That CPU runs great at 3.8, I went for 4.1 but didn't have any voltage control, so i've always been stuck at 3.8. Still that's 20% increase from stock with no effort.

Well on the P5LD2 945P chipset motherboard from Asus...I'm now at 3.52GHz with the RAM overclocked to 733MHz from 667. That's about the best I can do stable......but its been going for 20 hours now on Orthos Blended .

I'm considering building a setup for a friend and fund a good bundle deal with the 3.4Ghz Pentium D 945. 3.4Ghz and 4mb cache. heh, my e2180 is OCed to 3.5 and only 1mb cache.

Why has Intel discontinued these chips and continued the e21xx series?

Is there something I should know about the 900 series Pentium D?

Does anyone think I could get it past 4.0Ghz in a 610i XFX board with after market cooling?

EDIT: nvm, did some more reading. The D's are crap.
