COD4 Lan Problems

Thread Starter
So i have a wireless router and such and me and a friend can both connect and play every game fine together except COD4. We always get disconnected by the other person. We can play on different maps at the same time but never the same server.

Ive already set the ports to use different ones and it still doesnt work, any suggestions?

Its the lag spikes in vista. Every one minute Vista decides its a good idea to scan for a new wireless access point. This makes you lag out. There is no cure, especially for x64. Get an ethernet cable. Now.

go to the shortcut on the desktop , right click it , properties , target and type past the last ". like this blah312blah.exe" dev set_netport 23961

or

set net_port 23961.

That doesnt explain why we can play on seperate servers with no lag at all but the minute we join the same server it fails.

He runs vista 32x and i run 64x. but everyone says change the ports, i did that and it worked one time but that maybe was the server. we have tried 20 different port numbers now.

I guess its worth a try( to use cable instead of wireless), also anyone ever use a speedstream 5100 modem..i think that would be the problem because it gets overloaded easily.
