[EA] Spore Creature Creator Surcharge (Full Version)

If you've looked into buying the full version of the Creature Creator, if only to make more interesting creatures before the actual release, you probably noticed on the purchase page that one "Extended Download Service" priced at $5.99 is automatically added to your cart.

This service extends the time you're able to download the full version to two years in case of a hard-drive failure, system crash, reformat, etc.

Screenshot below as well as a link if it's not visible:

It IS only an option, but you have to opt OUT rather than IN. (Much like the iTunes + Safari ordeal)

What I'd like to know is if I can burn the full version to a CD so that I have nothing to worry about and don't have to waste an extra six bucks on EA sucking money out of us.

If not, it's unlikely that I'll waste my time purchasing the full version of the CC. Anyway, just thought I'd throw this out there for those of you interested in buying the full version of the CC and see if anyone knew anything else about this.

NOTE: Your investment is protected for six months (overlapping the Spore release), but this is more intended for those who like to keep track of what they own or even those who may decide they don't feel like buying the game after said time. I know I keep an organized collection of backups for most decent programs I own inside of a CD case, and I'm sure many others do as well.

As much as I don't like Steam, as least you can download your games for more than 6 months without being charged for it.

EA sucks.

Mine didn't charge me for the extra service.
Maybe it's just the US customers who suffer lol.

You lot don't get a 14 day withdrawal thingy either?

Looks like you get the chance to opt in rather than out. Maybe it's just US customers. Either way, it's still fishy.

Edit: Update. I went ahead and spent the money for the sake of all of us who were considering the purchase. Here we go. You aren't shown this text until after the purchase. If you have burning capability, do NOT waste your money with the extra charge.

Quote:
If your order contains downloadable software and you have not purchased our Extended Download Service, you have 30 days to download your purchase. Please save a backup copy to an external drive, CD, DVD, etc., of the file(s) that you downloaded in case you have computer or hard disk problems.
