Which temperature program to trust?

Thread Starter
hopefully a quick question.

Which temperature program should I be trusting? None of them ever seem to consistently agree on temperature. And coretemp showing 35c idle has me a little worried. Also, what is the tj max for on a e8400?

Pics included for reference

I've always found CoreTemp and Everest Ultimate to be the most reliable.

A note: I think that the DFI-provided monitor and CoreTemp together are likely synchronized, except that the DFI utility is reading from the IHS; CoreTemp reads from the thermal diode inside the IHS, which would explain why its readings are higher.

Hope this helps.

Bios and RealTemp

Hmm alright, bios, everest and realtemp all seem to agree that I'm idling at around 35C, I guess I'll look into reseating my heatsink tomorrow, as that seems a little high. Thanks for the suggestions!

RealTemp always shows the lowest. But CoreTemp and Everest show the same on my rig. I have 2 Rads 1-120X3 and 1-120X2 1-Quad CPU and 3 GPUs all in 1 loop.

Your idle and load temps in RealTemp for your cores are only 5 minutes apart (or less)

Just curious

edit:your "proof" 3DMark link goes nowhere also

Thanks. The cpu cooler is an OCZ vanquish and the 100% load was when I ran windows experience index it actually didnt go to 100% but to around 98% for about 30secs.

At idle my e8400 is at 32C with realtemp and 42C with coretemp and in bios its in the low 20s. Im happy as long as my load stays below 60C in coretemp.
