I say go Q6600. Even if a wolfdale is faster than a kentsfield, past 3 Ghz (in intel land anyway) its irrelevant. You may as well have the extra 2 cores helping run the inevitable spyware and other crap on your system. And when 4 core games come out, you'll be ready with an entry level quad core CPU.

And I will laugh at you with tme mighty power of my Athlon 6400+ (Windsor) I am buying, because I will just take comfort knowing I own AMD's fastest CPU... and it's barely the equal to an E6750 stock.

Definetely my last proprietary mobo...

uh no that is most definitely incorrect. the g0 stepping is the 'good' one, although the newest q6600s off the line seem to have higher VIDs than the older ones.

I haven't heard of anyone getting a B3 recently.
Even with a G0, you're not guaranteed a good overclocker.
It seems alot of the newer G0's have some issues.
At least the vcore can go higher

I know in games past about 3.0GHz gaming doesn't matter but in games and other applications an E8400@4.0 vs a Q6600@3.6 would there be a big difference, also taking into consideration the new SSE4 technology, I am still unsure how SSE4 differs from 3 at the moment.
unless ur jynxed like me and cant even get stable at 3.4ghz... Hardware failure/error withint 4 hrs of Prime95 AND Orthos testing. Failure always at the 4th core (Core 3).

tonton - Was in the same situation today @ microcenter I had the choice between the q6600 /6700 and the q9450 and guess what?? i took the 45nm q9450 because it makes less heat and now I have it @ 3.44GHz and its awesome (23c Idle - 37c load).
Those temps are amazing !!!! are those temps the core temps ?

What cooler are you using ?
