Would 9800gx2 be good on this PSU?

I have a ultra x-finity 600w psu with both a 6 pin and an 8 pin connector. This psu has been excellent and is built very well imo but I was wanting to know if you guys think it would be ok to use this. I will use 4 gig of skill ddr2 1000's, 1 hard drive (250gb wd), e8400, and a zalman cnps9700. I will be overclocking but was wanting to know if this psu would be sufficient enough to power just that system (NO SLI). I plan on getting a nice psu when I grab a second 9800gx2 or trade in for sli gtx 280/260 as I cant really spare the $180 right now for overkill psu for one card. Also this is a 2 year old model revision but it DOES have the 8 pin and 6 pin connector. Im wondering if this 8 pin is different than the 8 pins on the newer psu's that support the 9800gx2. Can you guys please help as im about to authorize my order to ship today?. Thanks in advance!.

It'll be fine for now, but i'd get a higher wattage / higher quality PSU if you wish to do more upgrades in the future

When OC'd - the system will use @Max around 520w of power

Check the wattage calculator in my sig, always helps =)

To be honest with you i wouldnt risk it A 9800GX2 is similiar to two 8800GTS G92s in Sli, ask yourself would you run 8800GTS Sli on a 600w Ulta PSU?
Kaza - 2 8800GTS's in SLI would use around 540-550w load with the CPU / GPU's OC'd

ultra x-finity 600w is a 600w PSU but only has 35A on 12v rails so it may barely make a cut for GX2.

Yes im wondering about that...I want to at least try it out before I buy the new psu. I am a little concerned with the 8 pin connector. 9800gx2's need a particular 8 pin connector (i think it has to be non detachable conversion from 8 pin to 6 pin) Im not sure which one i have but I looked at it and it doesnt convert to 6 pin so I think I may be in the clear.

the card comes with the converter connector included.

Get a better power supply. Antec Trio 650W, Corsair HX620w, seasonic (anything over 650w), etc.

Get the Corsair 750TX, 4 6+2 pin PCIE connectors.
60A on single 12V rail.

It is non-modular, but IMO, the best PSU you can get around 100 dollars.

Powers my 3870x2 plus 4 raptors, 7 case fans with plenty of power left to spare.

Again as the above post have said, you need more than 34A to power a 9800gx2.

Well if im going to spend the money on a psu im probably going to grab a 1200 so if I get 3 of the new gtx cards in the future I will be able to do so if necessary. I might have to see how the card works on the psu I have and upon finding out if this is sufficient or not ill make the decision to get a new psu when the money is available.
