No sound for computer!!! HELP!!! - Page 2

Hi.

Another possibility:

Check the Audio tab, and see if the soundcard is listed there. You may have to select it.

I think I know the problem, but you are gonna have to run a test to be sure.

First, download the drivers for your audigy. And install them. But when it asks you to reboot your computer, dont. Instead, go and try to play an MP3 or something to see if the sound works.

If it does, turn the computer completely off and unplug it. Wait about 2 minutes, then plug it in again and boot up. Now see if the sound still works.

I think this same problem happened to my girl's PC. I have no clue what caused it other than it probably being some stupid windows bug. Anyway, try it and see what happens.

Sorry, i was on vacation, so i couldn't test it...but it's a no go. installed all the newest drivers for my sound card and still says there is none, and no sounds/music will play, stating that there is a problem with the sound device.

No worries. Did you disable onboard sound? You never answered the previous posts

Also, try installing it in a different PCI slot. And try clearing CMOS. Sometimes CMOS can cause conflicts with "ghost" hardware - stuff that is no longer installed yet the computer still tries to address it like it was there.

Yes, i disabled onboard sound, but that didn't help. I also followed this entire troubleshooting guide, but no dice. So i decided to reset CMOS, cleared it, and still no sound, any other ideas? I'm getting tired of not being able to play music or games on this pc because i don't have any sound, lol.

same, thanks for the help, ideas and support anyways. Hopefully someone will figure it out, or i'll have to wipe everything and reinstall everything from scratch, but that's an absolute last resort.
