Best PSU on a tight Budget?
i know the PSU is the heart of the system and you cani scrimp...

BUT...i am sure there are more decently priced PSU's out there that can do the job that are not branded like BMW or AUdi...if you get my meaning...

Using...
OPTERON 180 4.8GHz X2 DUAL CORE - using 1.4v & FSB @ 241
2x DVD Drives...
3x Sata Drives...
GPU...(well...lol....will be one of these depending on a few factors)
BFG 8800 GTS OC 512
Radeon HD 3870 X2

Corsair 550vx in this case. Not quite sure what's available in your place. Remember any of the GPU in your list is around $200 so need to get a good PSU protect them.

I would say Corsair 650TX or 750TX. Those go for $90-110 on buy.com.

Hiper 630W
http://www.misco.co.uk/applications/...294105&CatId=0
would this be up to the job?
there is also a 780w version!

My current MB requires a
1x 24 Pin ATX power
1x 4 Pin 12v

NOW...the PSU above says it has a P4 and P8 pin?...

my current PSU has 2x 4 Pins....ONLY one fits...

how can i tell IF the PSU's out just now have the correct 4pin for my board?
as some have only have 1 8pin for the MB..how does that work?
for example...the Corsair TX 750W and TX 650W

The Hiper M-630 is a CWT PSU and from what I've seen is up to the quality of the other CWTs from Corsair, Thermaltake, Xigmatek, etc... (as well as that 730). If you go for the GTS the Corsair 550W would be good. If you decide to get the GTX or the X2 it's probably a good idea to shoot for a 650W (or the Hiper). Now the cpu connector issue. The 2x4pin should fit since one half will only fit on one side and the other half of the connector is all universal (all the pins are 6 sided, squares with the corners cut of). The 8pin is basically the same thing as the 2x4 just connected permanently, but the pin setup will only fit on one way.

Location: Da Hill, Scotland

The cheapest I've seen that PSU while browsing a few UK sites is ~£105 including VAT. The Corsair 750 is ~£80 including VAT so no reason to get the Silencer.

That Hiper 630 is looking like a good deal to me. It is about the same price as the Corsair 550 and should provide similar quality and a little more power, but 2 years less warranty (5 vs 3 years).

SO...
if a PSU is advertised with:
1x 24 pin + 4 pin ATX
1x 24 pin + 1x P4 + 1x P8
1x 24 pin + EPS/ATX12V 8-4 pin

any of the above will work then?...lol
£78 - 780W HiperPower HPU-4M780 - MISCO
that one has my eyes on it!

just found out as well that my MB uses 20 PIN ATX, not 24 PIN!!!
do you get converter / connectors for 24 to 20 pins?
