How is AOC? - Page 2

After my experience with AO and reading about other people's problems with AoC(same problems I had with AO), I suggest just flat out staying away from any mmo made by funcom. I was thinking about trying AoC but after reading about the same crap happening again there is no way funcom gets anymore of my money.
Well, I sure the heck am not saying classes are useless. The ToS and PoM are overpowered, it's true. The Assassin and DT are rather underpowered. But I'm an assassin and I have killed plenty of ToSs and PoMs in fair fights. They are changing things as well...but...sometimes I question the way they do it. I can see some easy ways to fix certain classes and I don't see how the heck the devs at FC don't see what is just plain obvious.

I myself am giving it a month or two. The game is good and if FC takes the right steps, it can be great.

aoc is a fun game atm im a lvl80 ranger on deathwhisper. I like the game so far i have been 80 for about 3 weeks and its getting boring sometimes. the pvp mini games are extremely fun with a bunch of friends. overall its a good game if you like games like dynasty warriors or other mmos i would at least give it a try for the free month.

You can definetly tell the game is in its infant stages, but any MMO has had release issues and is to be expected.

The early levels go pretty quick between questing an some really good camps, leveling isn't an issue. After lvl 55 though the levels slow down quite a bit. Less mobs and camps to grind and quests spread out through zones that are huge. If you aren't in a guild where they make it a point to try to get leveling groups going after lvl 55 you might get frustrated with it.

Bugs yes there are a bunch of them. Bugged quests, bugged mobs, bugge items. They are on a very aggressive patch schedule doing two per week. They have addressed quite a bit of issues with the patches, but there are still quite a bit left. One being the lvl 60-80 zones are still considerably laggy. They turned down some of the shaders for mobs and the environment in the lower level zones so that the majority of the game could play with minimal lag. But now that more and more people are lvl 60+ they do need to turn the shaders down in the higher level zones so lag isn't an issue.

Classes there is some imbalance. Priests of Mitra and Tempests of Sets are very strong classes through out all the levels. Rangers at lvl 80 are pretty ridiculous in terms of damage from range. Dark Templars are pretty underpowered, while the other classes seem to be pretty close power wise. They do have to do some tweaking to classes to balance it out a little bit more, and it seems they are doing that.

End game content is lacking pvp and pve wise. But since a majority of the population isn't lvl 80 yet, an also haven't finished getting their player built cities done, it seems that they have put this on the back burner to address other issues. I do hope though that within the next few patches that they do return to the end game content because more and more people are hitting lvl 80 and dont have much anything to do other than craft/gather/harvest or gank xpers (on pvp servers)

All in all, i think that AOC has been a very fun game from release up to this point. I plan on giving it another month or 2 to see if they do address a majority of the issues associated with the intial release of a game. You will get frustrated with some of the bugs in the game, but that is when i just log off and go do something else. I personally would recommend the game to anybody, with the understanding that it is in its infancy and still needs some polishing up.

BTW the graphics are absolutely amazing. I do recommend that you have at the very least 2 gigs of ram, dual core processor, and a 512mb vid card to expierence the game. In the higher level zones i have had to turn everything down to reduce lag and the game is pretty blase compared to when you can see the true details they put into the game.

The most annoying thing about the game which i dont think they will change though, is the constant loading to zone. I do understand that going between the capital cities why they zone. But going from a zone where you level to an attached zone (ie conall valley to field of the dead, the load screen gets annoying.

rangers are bad atm 80% of rangers attacks miss. Ranger dmg is really good pre lvl50 then it just falls off and dies. as a ranger you cant dps out a pom or tos you cant even take their health below 90%.

I have been playing a lot and I was in the first wave of 80's on Stormrage with my HoX. Its a good game but currently at 80 there isnt much to do. Me and my guild have killed a couple raid bosses and are working on another. On a normal night I will do far to much flower picking trying to finish our tier 2 city while sitting in the mini-games que and really nobody wants to que up.

So I mean once they have the pvp system in place and people feel the need to que up for minigames they will and that will e something to do.

Currently the biggest problem is the difference between casters and melee. With the way the combo system works its sometimes hard to chase down casters and land a lvl 80 combo on them. It is a fun challenge but can get discouraging when most casters have too much CC and spells can't even be interrupted.

Only way to find out for YOURSELF is trying it for YOURSELF. Everyone's experience with the game is different. You can't base other people's experience of the game in deciding if you should buy the game or not.

[QUOTE=tnaz71;4040880]

You have to grind a lot of the gameQUOTE]

I now have 3 toon >30 and 2 <30 and have not had to grind a single minute.

I really do not know what game you were playing; There are quests aplenty to ensure that grind=0

I understand that there are some Q-trees missing fom certain levels, but that is being sorted as we speak(type, lol)

What class is best for pvp currently? What outputs the highest damage? Which one of the magic classes are the most fun?
