it is, for a mmo its doing fine. Give it time, bugs happen with every mmo. WOW was no better really. There was a TON of content they said would be in at launch and wasnt. hero classes, siege weapons, pvp system, etc. The best thing about wow is its art style and graphics. It's accessible to everyone.

This coming from a WoW fanboy site. And besides no one else will try to make a game look better than another than someone trying to convince others its worth playing. I don't own it but have played it and this is a obvious WoW fanboy article.

2. The World Has No Character
The world is much more detailed than i found in WoW, which is boring, bland, and seems they'll throw anything at you. "LOOK! A GIANT VOLCANO! SOME FIRE! MAGIC OVER HERE! SWEET, EH?!"

3. World of Warcraft Raised The Bar Too High
Instability? I can tell you when i started playing WoW is was anything but stable. Bugs, crashes, servers lagged like hell. The launch for Conan has been a MILLION times more stable.

5. The Game Is Bad
This is a rediculous point. Its like taking all the previous ones and making a giant one out of it. IMO is a good break from those other ****ty MMO's like WoW, EQ2, Lineage II, and such.

oh yea? u enjoying the dx10?

the reason why AoC launch is more stable is because LESS PEOPLE WERE AT AOC LAUNCH THAN WOW'S LAUNCH. If the same amount of people tried to log in to the AoC servers take a guess at what would happen.

A giant one? by having every zone instanced? At least all three of those MMO's u have mentioned have made an attempt at a seamless world. AoC has added nothing revolutionary to the genre, except maybe the graphics which will soon become the MMO standard.

Give me numbers of the launches and I will believe your first point. And the point about instances, there is nothing wrong with them. Questing becomes easier, and in PvP servers you can get away from the "I kill people 20 levels lower than me while they are fighting other mobs or a boss, and they have low health" type of people.

I played WoW AFTER release (got to 64...worst 64 levels of any MMO I have played (except for maybe the 31 I played in Silkroad...). The only thing "good" about wow is the end game, and even then you have to get great gear in order to be "good". AoC has WAY better lower lvl content, and I'm sure (just like WoW did) it will get better over time.

As for the DX10, I'd rather have no DX10 than trying for hours to fix something that is broken.

*****edit**** And can we move this chat OUT of the news? It has been proven that the article has NO source, and the author wrote a conflicting article on it the next day. Take this where it now belongs in the PC discussion. It has gone on for long enough in here.

Instancing takes away some of the quality of a true MMO. A true seamless world with every player on 1 serve lies on one end of a spectrum, while RPG-online games (such as Diablo, NWN, Dungeon siege) lie on the other end. AoC falls somewhere in between.

Well i guess Funcom couldn't think of any creative ways to stop grief-killing like other developers have, so they added instanced zones which makes the world feel a lot emptier player-wise.

Worst 64 levels...? Couldn't have been that bad if you played through 64 levels. What kept you playing until level 64? No life?

And i disagree about WoW's endgame, i think it sucks. All it is, is a repetitious instanced PVP system that rewards players with more gear..... Rinse 'n repeat.

Funcom promised it would be available in time for launch. Just letting you know so you don't get your hopes up when they promise things in the future![/QUOTE]

AoC is something new for players. Updated graphics, new combat system, new classes/races. But I find the quests and story to be a bit bland, I almost can skip through most of the quest texts and not bat an eyelash. I end up making an effort to get into the story line, otherwise what would the be the point of playing? It takes work, it didn't just draw me in. I am kind of spent on the questing system of MMO's it's like fetch a few simple items, run back, fetch some more items, talk to this guy on the other end of town, or these three guys in different places in these towns. All MMO's make feel like an errand boy. I really was hoping for something engrossing, instead I found that I was just turned on by a new flavor of the same old stuff. Same experience, different box.

Maybe it's just where I'm at in my life that's causing me to be so 2 dimensional about these things. I wish the game the best though, I think it's close to a great thing and sets a new standard. And I'd have to compliment the funcom team on taking the patching so seriously, without it the game would have fallen through the floor.

neways, im done ranting about mmo's ... ::looks around:: is this the right thread?
