Anything less than 40 is tolerable for me. The Slipstream fans are my favorite for use on Radiators. Tons of air movement & fairly quiet. Also, if you have multiple fans, the noise does not increase very much at all.

Thanks everybody, I think I'll try and do the cheap mod first, and see how that goes. Then if it doesn't work out, I'll get a Kama-bay. And I'll probably ditch the SilenX fan when it eventually gets here. I've heard about the noctua fans as well, but there a bit expensive, I'll probably go with what the majority of people are saying and get a slipstream.

I have one in my Rocketfish case. The stock fan is terrible and the filter is too. I put in a Scythe Slipstream 80cfm and have been very happy with it

Ditto, I use my Slipstream as primary exhaust.

Yeah, it cuts down the noise a lot. Most people use it on RADs. So I figure it would help with just straight air cooling. Just do a test and plug in a fan, then place your hand right up to the fan (be careful and dont hurt yourself!), then pull your hand back an inch. You should notice a considerable reduction in noise with your hand an inch away.

That's actually a horrible example for a few reasons, but it get's the point across
